Dear Friends,
I’m excited to get back to the living room today. We haven’t played together since October, and it feels like it’s been a long time. Funny how you start missing things even though you really don’t do them very often.
The beautiful thing about the Living Room Collective is that I can go to Michael’s house today knowing we will come up with something cool. I have no preconceived notions or riffs to throw on the fire, but the moment will appear and we will make something interesting and fun to play. We will enjoy each other’s company and all ego can and will be checked at the door (if there is any between us).

A lot of people have made comments to me about the last Father Figures show not really being the “last” show. I can tell y’all, though, that it was the last show and there won’t be another. I could end up eating these words, but I’m 99.9% sure of them.
For one thing, I don’t want to do another show. How would we ever top the last one? For another thing, I don’t want to be in a band situation where we must practice and practice just to play a show. I’ve been there and done that with a lot of great success and wonderful memories. I love playing live, still, but the idea of doing a show just to do a show does not appeal to me.
I’m glad that people want to see another show by The Father Figures, though. That makes me feel really good and I’m also glad that people know the three of us make a good team. Maybe we’ll do a new project and play under a different name with all new songs. That is way more likely to happen than another FF show.

It was cool to be a spectator last night at the Dirty Drummer. It’s fun to watch another scene that is growing and evolving. There are some talented people in the country scene here in town and I think it is about to take off. We’re not going to be another Nashville, but just watch.
Cheating Luck, which features my buddy, Jon on pedal steel, was really good. I enjoyed getting to see their first show. Hopefully there is a lot more of them. It was fun to see Mrs. R, too, and her wonderful gang of good peeps.

Amy and I had a good conversation about the direction of our upcoming return to It’s Not Our Fault – The Podcast. We talked about how to approach the people we will be interviewing for the first season, and I think we have a fresh (is that possible in the podcast world these days?) way to approach the show. Either way, we are going to do a thing and I think people are going to like it.

In the middle
Of the night
Of the day
Of the moment
You can hear
And see
And feel
If you are open to it.
In the beginning
Of the night
Of the day
Of the moment
You can hear
And see
And feel
If you are open to it.
In the end it is
The end.
