Dear Friends,
Happy Cinco de Mayo. I’m guessing most of my students have no idea why Cinco de Mayo is a thing. They’ll be celebrating, though. I’m guessing tacos are on the menu for lunch, too.
Yesterday was a good day. The kids worked hard and most of them wrote their little fingers to the bone. They enjoyed visiting the 3rd grade classroom and then the principal gave them all a popsicle.
I wish I would have filmed them so that I could show sugar deniers that it is the wrong fucking thing to ever give students at school. Their whole demeanor changed for the last 20 minutes of the day. Children and sugar do not mix if listening is important.

I think someone tried to catfish me today.
I got a text message that was clearly a wrong number. I responded, “Wrong number” and then I got a picture texted to me. It was a young lady.
“Annie, don’t you remember me? I’m Alice.”
Again, I answered. “Nope. I’m not Annie.”
“Oh, I’m so sorry. I must’ve gotten one of her numbers wrong.”
“It’s all good. Have a great day.”
“You seem nice. Do you want to be friends?”
This was where I thought about messing with this person, but I don’t have time for that shit. I feel bad for people who would fall into a trap like that. The Surgeon General just released a statement about loneliness and I know that is a big issue he is trying to tackle. We all get lonely sometimes, sure, but people have to be smarter than getting roped into a “wrong number” text scam.
I know I’m giving people too much credit. I just want people to be smarter. I want them to open their eyes and look around from time to time. Breathe in the air and such. Live, learn, love, etc.
That’s asking a lot, I know. Most people I know just want to get by and have a little fun and not be hassled. Sometimes, just not being hassled is asking too much. At least the young “lady” in question took “No, I don’t want to be friends” for an answer.

Suns better win tonight. I’ll be watching and I highly anticipate there being some swearing at the TV. I don’t expect the Suns to win, but do expect them to come out swinging. If they don’t, we will know all we need to know about the heart of this team and Monty Williams will get fired when the series is over on Sunday.

On Thursday morning I watched the series finale of A Million Little Things. Rhondi and I started watching it from the beginning and I must admit I really liked the show. Like any network drama, it got a little soapy for me at times, but I do have a soft spot for the nighttime soaps that goes back to the original Dynasty.
The last episode was a total tearjerker but they tied it up nicely. In fact, they did such a good job that I kind of want to go back and re-watch the series again at some point. I’m guessing it will hold up pretty well. The first season was pretty darn excellent.

Speaking of TV, I really enjoyed the last couple of episodes of Ted Lasso. What a quality show it is. I hope it is not going away, but maybe it will, too. Between that, Barry, Succession, and Maisel going away soon, I’m going to need some new shows.
That’s a lot of talent moving on to different pastures, too. I can’t wait to see what Bill Hader does next. Same for the gal that plays the titular character in Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Her name is escaping me at the moment and I’m too lazy to look it up, but she really impressed me over the five seasons of that show.
