Dear Friends,
I sit here in a quiet house this morning. Everyone is still sleeping. We are headed to Worthley Pond ater this morning to swim and eat and have fun.
Our cousin, Hal, has a place there. It’s right across the road from the pond and it takes about 20 seconds to walk to the water from where we will be cooking hamburgers and hot dogs. It’s a pretty rad set up and one that I appreciate getting to spend time at a lot.
Hal is an awesome dude. He used to coach wrestling at the high school in Rumford and teach, as well. He still substitutes even though he is well past retirement age and could be doing anything else with his time. I love that he loves what he does.
We miss Martha, Hal’s late wife, a lot. She died a couple of years ago after a long, debilitating battle with cancer. I think there might have been another issue in there, too, but it doesn’t matter. I miss her a lot as she was one of the first of the Maine family that I felt really connected to when I joined the family. She just had a way about her that let you know that she really wanted to enjoy her time with you when she had it. We all loved her a lot and we love Hal a lot, too.
So that’s something to look forward to today.
Afterward, we will go have a beer with Will at Parkside and Main. It’s his last day working there as he got a great opportunity at a different restaurant. Hopefully Parkside will allow Will to continue to curate their beer selection as it is one of the best ones anywhere. Will has done a really amazing job making it a great, underappreciated destination for beer lovers around the world.
This is our second to last full day in Maine and I can’t think of a better way to spend it.

Happy birthday Michael. I am so thankful for another trip around the sun with you. If you had asked me a few years ago if it was possible for us to get any closer, I would have said that it wasn’t, but here we are. The last year has been so much better with us being able to hang out as often as we have.
I have to work on a song now, but if you’re reading this, know that you are my brother and I love you.

Just an FYI…the next few days might be a bit short, Ergonomic-wise. I’ve got a lot going on and I’ll squeeze in some writing, but I’m not sure how much. Maybe just a little, maybe a lot. I’m curious how Marcy’s first night of working at the hospital with her new “bet” ability is going to go. I’m ‘betting’ it’s going to be interesting, to say the least.
See you tomorrow.
Kind of a cool sky yesterday while we were making pizza on the deck.
