Dear Friends,
Last night, I was sitting here minding my own business, and I happened to stumble across Revenge of the Nerds on TV. It sucked me in immediately. Sure, it’s dated, sexist, and pretty darn crass, but it was hilarious. It wouldn’t get made today. That’s sad.
It was a movie that used crude, sophomoric humor to prove a point against bullying and elitist nonsense. You can’t help but root for the underdogs and the way they stuck it to the jocks was perfect. Of course, now the jocks would have shot one of the nerds halfway through the movie and it would probably have a completely different ending.
I hadn’t planned on writing about Revenge of the Nerds. I had planned to write about another show I have been enjoying. Reservation Dogs is killer. I’m only four episodes in, but I’m hooked. I hear that it only gets better. I can’t wait.
What I like the most so far about RD is the pace of the show. It just flows a bit differently than most shows. It’s not fast or slow. It just goes along the way and doesn’t force anything. The acting and writing are top notch, too. I kind of love that each show gives you a bit more about one character but brings it all together, too. I’m at that point with the show that I’m so glad there is a ton more to see.
Another cool thing is that the writers and directors are clearly setting up different levels of tension while keeping it feeling good. If you haven’t checked it out, I highly recommend it. I loved the one I watched last, which has the fourth episode about the Light Horseman and the Deer Girl. So good.

“God, I’m in love with a nerd.” – some lines from movies just stick with you.
“Hair pie!”
“You just got your asses whipped by a bunch of goddamn nerds.” – John Goodman before anyone knew who he was. Imagine what he was thinking when he did that role? I’m guessing he could not have foreseen what was to come.

See you tomorrow.
Clap your hands everybody, everybody clap your hands.
