Do you want to see a dead body?
Strange question? Maybe. Yesterday on my way to play golf, I saw a dead body at the end of my street. Yep, right as I was about to turn onto the fairly busy main north/south road by my house, there she was.
Well, as I think about it, I am pretty sure she was a she, but I could have been wrong. As I was approaching the end of my street, I saw an SUV parked in front of the last house on my block. I noticed that it was parked pretty close to the corner, which was odd. As I pulled up, I saw a woman standing by the driver-side door talking on the phone with a very strange look on her face.
She looked like she was telling the person on the other end of the phone something outrageous, and her face had that, “I can’t fucking believe it” look.
As I pulled past her, I soon saw why she had that look. There was a body in a wheelchair sitting there and it was very, very motionless. It looked as if the person was out for a morning roll and just didn’t make it much past the point where the sidewalk slopes down to the asphalt.
It was startling.
I didn’t know what to do. I was on the way to the golf course and as I paused there, staring at death, I thought maybe I should see if the lady with the SUV needed help or maybe I should just go. She was, no doubt in my mind, calling 911 and what could I do?
So, I did the only thing I could think of and got the fuck out of there.
It played on my mind for much of the drive to the golf course. I thought about it all day yesterday, too, but ironically, I had the best round of golf I’ve had in a long time. Maybe she was a golfer, too, and she was with me? Crazier things have happened.
What a way to start what was a pretty good day, though, all things considered. A great round of golf, followed by some writing and laundry at home, and a good dinner. I made chicken legs that I got from Costco on Saturday morning. I’m a chef now (of sorts).
Overall, a pretty nice and productive weekend. We had a good jam over at Michael C’s on Saturday and I should be able to share some new music with folks soon. It is unlike anything I have ever been a part of in the past, so I am excited to share.
I’ve also been watching The Morning Show on Apple. What a weird show. It’s like a trainwreck in the first season and I can’t take my eyes off of it. I’m not a particularly big fan of either Jennifer Anniston or Reese Witherspoon, but I have liked a few things each of them did. They make a pretty good duo, so far. I’m excited to see where it goes.
At school today, we are playing some kickball in the morning and then I have to keep them busy for the rest of the day. We all know this week is total bullshit, but whatever. We will have some fun. It’s staff vs the 4th grade, so we’re going to tear them apart. They deserve it, too.
Not really, but it was fun to write that.

PS…stupid, stupid, stupid Celtics. I was kind of rooting for them to win it all and it looks like Miami is going to sweep them.
Rolling Hills is fun. It's a tough course, but when it is your friend, it makes you feel good.
Judging by our new scoring system, golf will always be a little less stressful. 🤪
