Dear Friends,
What a nice day yesterday was. Our family event was wonderful and a good time, I hope was had by all. I am constantly amazed at the generosity of the people I love.
I wa so happy to see some family in don't get to see very often, which is as much my own fault as anyone's. It made my heart feel light and full of love. I guess I'm just full of joy today and that's never a bad thing.
I wish it were easier to just embrace happiness. It's maddening, really, that we live in a world where happiness is fucking free and so many of us, myself included, forget that it is okay to just feel and be happy.
We are so busy concentrating on what we don't have that we overlook or take for granted what we do have. Days like yesterday help me realize that the cup is pretty darn full in the grand scheme of things.
I broke my alcohol streak. My son wanted to do a shot with me and I enjoyed the whisky. I had a beer chaser, too, and that tasted pretty darn good, but I doubt I will partake again any time soon to any excess. After a long day, a little bit of alcohol felt nice, but that was plenty.
I got a tiny buzz and I was fine with keeping it right there. I won't say I didn't enjoy it, but it did help me realize that I can't ever go back to drinking the way I was doing it for the last few years. A little bit, here and there, is the path for me.
Lastly, stupid Suns.
