Dear Friends,
The last time I baked anything, I made some brownies. I enjoy baking a lot, but I rarely do it anymore. Maybe it is because I try to be good and avoid sweets as much as possible or maybe I just don’t stay still long enough to really do a good job at it. I don’t know.
A couple of years ago, I made a Boston Crème Pie for my Dad’s birthday. I actually made two of them because I wanted to make sure it turned out well. That’s a tough dessert for someone who is really more of a brownie, cake, and shortbread kind of baker. He liked it, though, and it was pretty tasty.
A few years before that, I got on a big kick of making shortbread. It could be the Irish blood coursing through my veins, or it could be that shortbread is pretty darn easy to make. I also like it a lot. I got creative with it and made some Heath Bar shortbread and other combinations with chocolate. Maybe around the holidays I will make some more.
Those cookies can be pretty darn crumbly unless you leave them in the oven too long.

My buddy, Chris, commented on yesterday’s post with a simple answer about ol’ Trump. He said, “It’s a cult.” I tend to agree and if you think about his base, they fit the mold really well. A lot of the people that I know personally who turned to Trump (Not all, mind you) are the kind of people who desperately want to be part of something. They want to belong.
I was talking to Rhondi about it and I mentioned that just about anyone could throw on a MAGA hat or wildly patriotic t-shirt and be accepted at one of his rally’s. I suppose it would be the same as throwing on a white sheet and going to a Klan rally, too. I’m not going to try either of those things, but I bet it would work.

Yesterday after work, I went to the chiropractor. My neck has really been bothering me and Dr. John is doing a really nice job getting me back in alignment. I’m sure some people aren’t too keen on getting their spine adjusted, but it has always done a lot of good for me. I’ve been going to chiropractors since I was a teenager.
Back in the Easy Street days, Mom and Aunt Julie traded sandwiches to a couple of different chiropractors in exchange for adjustments. I liked both of the dudes a lot and they seemed to enjoy eating our sandwiches, too. I’ve only been to three or four of them in my life. They are (and were) well-respected in their field but I’m sure there are quacks out there, too.
Dr. John used to be a staff chiropractor for the PGA Tour. He used a technique on me that he learned in those days that was one, according to him, that Tiger Woods needs from time to time. He didn’t say whether he ever got to do the adjustment on Tiger, but still. I wonder if my golf game will be better next time I play.

It’s almost the weekend. I hope it’s a good one for everybody.
See you tomorrow.
This was a really fun show. I wonder how Tony and Jen are doing?
